I was prompted to install SIMBL, and I accepted through the pop-up box, entered my admin password etc, and then attempted to change themes once that was done.

I then attempted to download the newest version of cDock through sourceforge as my version wasn't working. I'm confident rootless was correctly disabled because I've been successful in modifying system icons such as the finder and trash dock icons, which was not possible before. I disabled rootless yesterday by booting in Recovery mode, opening Terminal through the menu bar, and typing csrutil disable then rebooting. cDock 0.9.8 themes are not working on 10.11.5. (Updating to 22.04 that widget would not unlock the desktop, which was thus stuck to locked mode, and I had to use the above command.I'm having similar issues. But that widget doesn't work in later versions, at least not in 22.04 with Plasma 5.24. In 20.04 one can also use Win7ShowDesktop button widget, which has that "lock widgets" option integrated in its own options (beside providing what it says, a "Show desktop" panel button that is more discrete/slim than the default one). To replace it, you may use this solution, namely the command qdbus /PlasmaShell evaluateScript 'lockCorona(!locked)', which can be easily added to a launcher on the desktop (Create-New-Link to application - and then possibly add the launcher to ~.local/share/applications). Plasma 5.18 (and above) has hidden the "lock widgets" toggle. It might require installation of the <5.18 version of the widget, in case the other one doesn't work. It needs widgets to be locked in order for the button to be hidden, and
I have seen this in Kubuntu 20.04 with Plasma 5.18, but also in 22.04 with 5.24. It is sometimes affected by a bug where the button stays always visible.
I hope somebody forks this and keeps it updated. This is not maintained anymore by the author, so it may stop working with newer Plasma versions, although I have seen it work in Plasma 5.23 and even 5.24. The button is hidden after "finishing customizing layout" The widget can be installed and added through the "add widgets" interfaceĪfter that, in 20.04 edit panel to make the button visible, but close the editing to use the button. Note that the recent Plasma 5.22+ setting of adaptive and translucent panel doesn't provide full transparency, far from it.īut there is Panel Transparency Button, which provides exactly what is expected. This parameter was added in Plasma 5.57 according to this and as long as it stays there, it should work without any additional widgets.
